Mythos Audio

Thessaloniki - 2013

Mythos Audio is a manufacturer of Hi End Loudspeakers and Audio Furniture and various custom made luxury creations and is activated in the market for 30 years now, with international recognition and many attendances in the "High End Show of Munich" in Germany, one of the most important European trade fairs.

The company's most innovative product and world patent, "The Daedalus Project", is a complex of plywood layers in a loudspeaker cabin which give extremely good results of sound quality with almost zero vibrations. The name Daedalus is first mentioned by Homer as the creator engineer of the Labyrinth on Crete, in which the Minotaur (part man, part bull) was kept. In the story of the labyrinth Hellenes told, the Athenian hero Theseus is challenged to kill the Minotaur, finding his way with the help of Ariadne's thread. The inner of the speakers that Mythos Audio produces, is based in a complex structure that reminds of the mythical labyrinth and this is how the name was given to the patent.

This story was my "Ariadne's thread" to this logotype design project. The two first letters of the word "Mythos", "M" and "Y" in a vertical rectangle, the usual shape of a loud speaker, form together the labyrinth. A connection with the, more than 15 years previous, recognizable brand colours, was required to keep a connection with the history of the company so the colours are a direct reference to this.
