Greenstyle was established in 2009 and is a Danish e-shop that sells top-designed and environmental friendly bags for daily shopping. The client needed a new, "fresh", "green" logo to brand the web shop.

 

 

Unlike my usual tactics in logotype design, this time I decided to start with looking for the right typeface. Actually, the idea of using a specific typeface came to mind during the briefing. The main target group was 30-40-year-old women, so I decided on a typeface that was widely used in the 80s in advertisements in many Western-culture countries. The typeface was Cooper, a curvy, ecological and very friendly font, especially in lowercase.

One of the most difficult logotype design is making it unique and yet standard at the same time, so that people can recognise and "accept" it as fast as possible. Especially when the subject is ecology, the arsenal has limited graphical "weapons" like leaves, the sun, flowers, the colour green and so forth. So the question was how to create something unique using common materials. I ultimately combined the "usual" ecological leaves with a "usual" letter "g" in a hybrid that is definitely unique, the big leaf's midrib is designed as an invisible extension of the top part of the letter "g".

 

The overall result is a "green" and very clear logo, even in small sizes, that is easy to reproduce in all media.
